may I ask about the project name? Does it have a meaning or some hidden structure? Is it a result of blending other words?
The similarity with “operation” is big. Even if I type in “operaton bpm” into the google search, it corrects the spelling to “operation”

I totally get where you’re coming from - it took me a bit of time to warm up to the name as well. But now, after using it for a few weeks, it feels completely natural.
As for trademarking, I think it’s feasible (especially since a registration request is already in progress). At the same time, the name feels generic enough to leave room for others to create their own distributions without stepping on toes.
From an SEO perspective, though, it might be a bit tricky. We’ll really have to see how things play out once the website relaunches and we dive into ranking for specific keywords. But i don’t think the name will be show stopper.
It took me also a while to get used to the name, and I’m still not totally happy with it. Finding a “good” name for trademark is not easy. I have to think then about the Dilbert - The Name episode.
A name is important, but what is behind of it is more important. It is our duty now to spread the word and make this name a recognized one. This is community work and marketing. At the moment, the resources are not much, but I am confident that we can find enough interested parties to support us.
As @Julian points out, there likely will be solutions that build upon, and they will create their own brand.
There is no meaning behind the word, we just tried to find a unique word which is trademarkeable and liked the sound of it
The Google autocorrect is a little unfortunate, indeed, but I’m pretty optimistic that at some point in time the project will be mentioned enough for Google to understand the word.

Maybe we can add a Google/Bing Business entry with the name Operaton to circumvent the ‘translation’ confusion of the search engines.
