Where to host Operaton images

Hi,

we wanted to move a discussion here about where to host images of Operaton. DockerHub, Github, some-other-hub…

I would like to suggest to host images on DockerHub and Github.

Due to the rate limit nobody really uses DockerHub directly anymore. Most of us use a mirrors from their CI supplier (Gitlab or Github, for instance). Those people will have unlimited access to Operaton images from Dockerhub through their mirrors.

However, people who are not using a mirror have very limited capabilities, thus for them I suggest to host images on Github, too. Just for people who are more independent.

It’s almost no additional effort and does not involve costs, afaik.

I would propose the same. It is not a big deal to publish to multiple registries.

More interesting to me is which images to publish? Which OS, base image, Java, Operaton distros? And when? Nightly or on any change on main?

For DockerHub we would need to create an organization and assign committers. Who would create and manage this organization (now)?

I would like to start soon to build these images and would need the necessary information and rights to do so.

This organization should be created and managed by the Verein as soon as it’s ready.

As for now I think @javahippie should create and manage this. I just pinged him and he seid he will create the organization over the holidays.
